Moving day!!! I've moved today.....not far, though. same hostel, just down in the basement, instead of the third floor. why, you ask? Well, I wen to one of the YHA hostels here in London to find out if they could book me for Paris. As soon as I mentioned Paris, she said "no way." Not until the World Cup is over, anyway. When I got back to my hostel, I was reminded that I had only paid up till last night. After thinking it over a bit, I decided to stay here until Monday morning. Then I'll probably go across the channel to a smaller city in France. Perhaps Calle or another port city, or I might meet with relatives that are vacationing somewhere on the French coast...I'm still not sure what city they'll be in. Anyway, I asked if there was anything cheaper than the room I've been staying in (£18 a night has been killing me...that's over $32!!). So, I've just finished moving my stuff downstairs into what they call the Club Room. It accommodates up to four people, and right now it's got three, counting me. Anyway, on to what else I've done today....
I got up this morning at about 8. By 9:30 I was out the door and headed to Westminster Abbey. I spent most of the day wandering around there following the audio guide. If I thought there were a lot of tombs in St. Paul's, I'm not sure what to say about Westminster. I was literally walking over graves. Frances Handel, Charles Dickens, Shakespear, along with many of the Kings and Queens of England. Oh, and letıs not forget the plumber that's buried in the west hall. There were so many tombs and memorials, that one has to wind one's way through them all. I never quite new what direction I was going. Anyway, It was quite enlightening, even if it did leave me footsore and weary.
Well, that's it for today (I hope!). I'm going to go in and watch a bit of TV, or perhaps find someone to play billiards with.
Hasta!
