Upon arriving at the fair this year we received the bad news at the morning meeting Saturday: this is the last time for the fair. Apparently the fair got caught between bickering factions within the Long Beach government. And politicians wonder why nobody likes them.
This is particularly sad for the Tribe as this is our anniversay faire. Twelve long years ago Saviya came up with the bright idea of forming a dance troupe to get into faire for free, and with Musa egging her on the Tribe was formed. This was probably the single most expensive idea Saviya has ever come up with. Over the years the Tribe has added several more anniversaries to the list: Katrina and Nikolai got married two years after the tribe was formed. Later both Nasir and Tatiana were handfasted (not to each other, however). Finally, Kisa and Boris met and subsequently Boris proposed to Kisa at the faire. As you can see, this event is always special to the tribe aside from the fact that is has always been one of our collective favorites on its own merits.
I know the members of the tribe will always fondly remember our time working the faire over the years.
