Tribe Roman Morga, a performance troupe specializing in Middle Eastern dance and music, will be opening its vardo doors to hold auditions for male and female dancers and musicians to join its "kumpania" in Huntington Beach, California.
The Tribe, which is comprised of dancers, musicians and actors, artistically represent Gypsies during the 15th Century. Wearing ornate costumes and playing exotic rhythms for cross-cultural shows, the Tribe regularly performs at Renaissance festivals and major events throughout Southern California. In 2009, the Tribe may be seen at such diverse venues as the Escondido Renaissance Fair and Cairo Carnivale in Glendale.
Dancers who enjoy dancing to live music, performing choreographies and desire to grow in a troupe environment are encouraged to audition with the Tribe. Performers should have two or more years of experience in performing Middle Eastern dance or other stage and individual performance background; training in folk dances, flamenco, East Indian or jazz is a plus!
Amiable, talented, dedicated and considerate performers are encouraged to apply and to bring along a friend! Applicants should be self-motivated and sincere in their desire and effort to study and rehearse. Rehearsals are currently held every Sunday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in various Orange County locations.
If you like to perform under the sky, are interested in the rich history and traditions of the Gypsies and desire to learn new choreographies and music (and perhaps create your own), your destiny may await you in Tribe Roman Morga.
